For those of you from the South Bay, you may know a thing or two about Paradise Bowls. Pbowls, as I like to call it, is one of my absolute favorite places to grab a bite to eat and head down to The Strand to stroll as I munch.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am no chef. Hell, I don’t even know how to pronounce açaí correctly. But I do love a good smoothie bowl. I alternate between making my bowls out of Pitaya, which is a fancy name for Dragonfruit, and açaí, which is a very popular health berry. I buy pre-blended frozen packets from either Whole Foods Market or Trader Joe’s, and then blend in either frozen cherries, frozen raspberries, or frozen banana to give it a little more thickness and some extra sweetness.
Before I do any blending though, I like to prep all my fresh fruit and take out the different nuts and seeds that I use as toppings. I usually will cut up strawberries and bananas, and on occasion, blueberries. After that is all prepped, I’ll put the frozen ingredients in the blender, and start assembling!
For the purpose of this lovely blog post I nicely arranged everything in lines, but the reality is that I just kind of sprinkle each ingredient randomly. My favorite toppings include honey granola, Chia seeds, and Raw Shelled Hemp Seeds. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll add some Cacao nibs, dried Goji berries or drizzle on some honey, but I know that adds quite a bit of extra sugar, so if I’m feeling particularly health conscious that day I will skip those.
All in all, putting the whole thing together only takes a few minutes and its the sweetest brekky around. This is my favorite combo, but there are so many different ways to put these bowls together, so make it your own. Happy eating friends!
